Flying Home

How does one define the legacy of a man? For those who knew Roof Management’s founder, David Denman, you’d measure his legacy not just by the company he built but by the lives he touched and literally saved.

With an idea that hatched in 1990 from a gap he saw in the roofing industry—by 1994, David had started Roof Management and had a territory that spanned Columbus, Cincinnati and Indianapolis. In those early years, it was David’s relentless drive that embodied the entrepreneurial spirit mixed with his never-ending positivity that allowed the company to grow.

That’s because David had an aura about him—a magnetic pull. No matter how loud or soft he spoke, his voice carried and was heard. That’s because every word was spoken with so much passion and love for the person he was talking to.

David was an expert at squeezing every drop out of life. With Roof Management, he was able to amplify his other passion in life—flying. He flew everywhere and any chance he could. From hopping on a plane to meet a client at a moment’s notice to never missing his daughter’s volleyball games around the country—he didn’t just fly, he soared.

His love for flying is only matched by his love for people. David would fly veteran heroes and their families as well as organs to hospitals overnight to save lives—proving his heart was as big as the ones he was saving.

But his real legacy? It lives on wife Pat, whom he was married to for 44 years, and in his two children, Chris and Lisa, who now help lead the company.

David had a mantra he lived by: Be Brief. Be Brave. Be Gone. David spoke in such a concise and charismatic way that people would gravitate to him. To David, living brave meant staying grateful and humble enough to love life. And while David might be gone, his infectious energy buzzes through every person he touched.

David’s passion for all things in life made him who he was. But it was his family, friends and co-workers that made David extraordinary.
